As usual, April was the month that kept us guessing.  April started out cold, with light snow the 3rd, 4th and 6th – fortunately not enough to slow down our spring clean up efforts.   I am just glad that we didn’t have a repeat of 1906… Oh? You don’t remember 1906? Well, neither do I – but the records show we got 20.5 inches of snow on April 24th, 1906.  Let’s just keep that in the past, shall we?

We did get a late season snow storm on April 26th that brought in 2.2″ of snow, which is the latest storm for the season since 1993. That brought our total for the season 51.8″ – less than half the amount that we received last winter.  The latest observed snowfall in the Greater Portland was on May 10th, (1945), which is why I waited until the 15th to write this summary.

Now that we are in the clear, we are wrapping up spring cleanups, and beginning lawn repair, lawn installation and mowing.  We ask for patience as our crews transition from winter to spring, but so far, we have had a really smooth transition.

If you haven’t already, be sure to introduce yourself to our newest member of our team, Rana Bates – who recently accepted the position of Landscape Consultant.  She will be more than happy to help you schedule any special projects you may have in mind. Rana comes to us with a background in horticulture and landscaping.  We are very excited to have her on our team!

Be sure to visit us on Facebook! Our crews post pictures of the projects we are currently working on, as well as tips and updates! Check us out at www.facebook.com/flaggshiplandscaping   While there, feel free to leave us a review to let us know how we are doing!
